Poem – Day Trip

Day Trip

The morning’s stirring early
for a Saturday,
We’ve a trip in the offing,
and it’s chased all sleep away.

Hop in the shower quickly,
then bolt some cereal;
Brush your teeth on the double,
then help pack the noon meal.

We’re on the road with a bustle,
anticipating fun.
The car ride there is pleasant
and not a very long one.

We’ll come home tired surely,
later in the day,
But we are glad to be family
together at our play.
