I was horse-crazy once…

March 30, 2011

Stallion Racing to the Sunrise

Muscles pulse under gleaming hide
Night’s soft dew takes a ride
Snorting nostrils wide do flare
Four black hooves pound out a dare
Steady, rhythmic, flowing gate
Never ever will he be late
Arching his neck so gracefully
Running away, the dawn to see

My Savior and I

March 23, 2011

We walk among the scented fields
And sing together, songs of praise
I hear your laugh, I see your smile,
I know in you I’m always loved.

We walk along a troubled path;
The darkness round us cannot scare me
I hold your hand, I see your face,
I know in you I’m always safe.

We walk amid the tides of time
but you never let them flood my life
I hear your voice, I see your strength,
I know in you I’m always strong.

We walk apart from worldly cares
And you give to me a gladsome joy
I love your ways, I love your work,
I know in you I’ll always rest.

In Christ Alone – The Gettys

March 18, 2011

I’ve got a weakness for the Irish accent, but that’s by no means the only reason I liked this video!  Note that Andy Leftwich is on the fiddle.  I encourage you to check out the Getty’s website for more.

Thanks to Tim Challies for this other great video that sent me on a tour of exploration!

Have you ever watched wind blowing through the trees?  My home is on high ground, where the wind is constantly blowing, and can be quite strong sometimes.  When the wind gets to blowing, some of the trees around really whip their branches around!

Have you ever compared yourself to a tree?  Life is blowing past you, and when we’re young (physically or spiritually), it’s often easy to be bent by the wind.  Even trees with strong bark, however, can be swayed by very strong winds, and sometimes these are the most vulnerable trees to being blown over.

Of course, spiritually, we need to be pliable to the Spirit’s blowing, and bend wherever he wants us.  This because we know that the Spirit will never blow us in the wrong direction, but will always be helping us to grow toward the Son.

What kind of tree are you?

Trees, trees, blow in the breeze
Bending low to touch their knees.
Trees, trees, blow in the gale
Who once were young, hearty, and hale.
Trees, trees, blow in the wind
Wishing it was more disciplined!

Did You Know that Love Dies?

March 15, 2011

I saw the title and my brow furrowed (yes, brows do furrow even in this modern age, and mine’s pretty adept at it too!).  “Love Dies.” The article was as challenging as the title concept seemed to be, although Stephanie Shanks was actually addressing the topic of our cheap efforts at loving people compared to what our Savior did for us.  Are we ready to go “all the way our Savior leads”?

Read, ponder, and live.

Latitude 821

March 14, 2011

In case you weren’t aware of it, Cross-eyed blog and website has found a new name.  They are now operating under the name Latitude 821 (reference to Romans 8:21).  I had the link to the original website on my blogroll, but it wasn’t until after the recent name change that I want through and explored some of the articles.

All the writers and articles I read were impressive, and they have challenged me on several levels and several topics.  I encourage you to check them out too.  Maybe something there will give you reason to stop and think about your life or your walk with Christ.
